An interactive 2 day training course for individuals who want to increase their knowledge of risk theory and risk assessment in a probation context.

This an effective and popular session for those new to working in the community justice sector and for established practitioners who want to improve their quality of their OASys assessments

Using a blended approach to learning, including self-study, workbook exercises, face-to-face video sessions and assessed exercises we will look to increase your knowledge of the fundamentals of sound risk assessment and how this is applied to your OASys practice.  The course will allow you to apply your learning via a fictional case study assessment and you will also receive an individual feedback session from your trainer as to your areas of strength and improvement.

By the end of the event you will:

  • Be able to define the key concepts and principles of risk assessment

  • Be able to relate this to your practice

  • Be able to apply defensible decision-making principles to your practice

  • Be better equipped to identify and escalate risk when you encounter it

  • Apply the principles of Risk Assessment to an OASys assessment

In order to access this course, you will need a laptop or desktop computer with access to the web and the ability to watch videos.  You will also need to access the zoom meetings app but instructions will be given by your trainer on how to do this.
