Domestic abuse is a prevalent risk issue in the situations of many offenders. Even if it is not linked to an offender’s index offence, it can still be the most pressing risk issue you will face when supporting an offender. This training looks to provide you with an understanding of the dynamic causes of domestic abuse while offering practical ways in which you can support both perpetrators and victims.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
Identify the indicators of domestic abuse and its prevalence in society.
Identify the reasons why victims of domestic abuse choose to stay in an abusive relationship.
Explore the theoretical approaches to working with domestic abuse perpetrators and how these influence the support you offer to offenders.
Explore and utilise useful techniques and exercises for challenging domestic abuse perpetrators.
