For those looking to develop and enhance their skills in working with service users. This is a two-day hybrid learning experience that encourages self-directed learning using workbooks, videos and discussion sessions. You will trace a case through various stages of rapport and engagement and explore how you can support desistance in your caseload. The course will also address motivational approaches and the cycle of change.
By the end of the event you will be able to:
Identify what desistance is
Consider how a service user might indicate they are moving toward desistance
Identify how we build rapport
Identify the stages of the cycle of change and analyse what approaches should be used in each stage
List the principles and skills for motivational interviewing
