GOOD PRACTICE IN ENGAGING WITH WOMEN OFFENDERS AND YOUNG ADULTS

1 Day Event

While the principles of effective engagement should apply to your work with any case regardless of age, gender or need, there are some cases where specific focus has to be given to the unique needs of the case.  This training event will help you to explore how to work effectively with women offenders and young adults and what adaptations you can make to your practice to ensure successful outcomes for all.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify the unique experiences of women in the criminal justice system and their barriers to engagement based on the findings of the Corston Report.

  • Identify techniques for ensuring women offenders are supported appropriately in their access to rehabilitation services.

  • Identify the differing needs of working with and assessing young adults.

  • Identify how to take into account maturity in assessments.

This 1 day course is aimed at all practitioners; particularly those who hold a high proportion of female and young adult cases.  It is essential for all new starters.
