Giving a Presentation

Tue 27th October 2020

Costs £75 (plus VAT) per delegate

In October 2010 the Equality Act came into force which requires public authorities to take action to ‘promote understanding’ and ‘tackle prejudice’. These duties apply to the area of criminal justice and ‘hate crime offenders.’

Probation staff will learn appropriate tools to gain confidence working with evidenced based interventions, OASys when supervising service users who have committed hate crimes. Staff will enrol on this on-line blended learning course which consists of a workbook, videos, practical case study and group Zoom discussion.

This course includes resources and links to support probation staff in their risk management.

By the end of this event you will be able to:

  • Gain awareness of hate crimes and hate incidents

  • Consider possible causes and typologies of hate crimes

  • Identify good practice for OASys and supervision

  • Identify when to use Restorative Justice appropriately

  • Appreciate how hate crime affects communities not just the individual

  • Find out what’s available in your local area to support you working with hate crime cases

In order to access this course you will need a laptop or desktop computer with access to the web and the ability to watch videos.  You will also need to access the Zoom meetings app but instructions will be given by your trainer on how to do this.
