SFJ AWARDS LEVEL 4 CERTIFICATE IN COMMUNITY REHABILITATION (QCF)

Laurus Development, working in partnership with Skills for Justice Awards, developed this

qualification to address the skills requirements of the Probation Service Officer workforce involved in delivering services in the community.

It presents an alternative to the Level 3 Diploma in Probation Practice, taking into account the demands on staff at level 3 to continue to operate effectively as casework requirements develop.

This qualification addresses developments in the knowledge and skills required for effective rehabilitation practice. Its central themes are:

  • Developing strong and engaging relationships to motivate crime-free lives

  • Assessing, communicating and managing fluctuations in risk

  • Work that is based in communities and neighbourhoods and alongside partners

The design of this qualification involved a literature review and consultation with staff and managers, Providers, the VCSE sector and Service Users.

It has been driven by the need for a modern and relevant qualification that validates the professional- ism of the workforce in its task of effective rehabilitation practice to achieve reduced reoffending and diminish the impact of crime on victims and communities.
