What is motivational interviewing, how do I use it and when is the best time to use it with Service Users? This training is a basic introduction to the theory of motivation and working with Service Users. It will introduce the cycle of change and how best to use this in your work with Service Users, along with some rehearsal of the skills in a safe environment. It would be useful for participants to have a case in mind that they are struggling to motivate at present, so that this can be used as a scenario for their learning on the training.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
Describe the theory underpinning motivation.
Identify how the cycle of change relates to motivating service users.
Apply Motivational Interviewing skills and techniques through skills practice.
